CPP is a federal program that provides benefits to those who have contributed to the pension plan through past employment in Canada. Applications are available at the local Social Development Canada office or online at CPP website.

The Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS) provides a monthly non-taxable benefit to Old Age Security (OAS) pension recipients who have a low income and are living in Canada.
