Fraser Health is responsible for responding to situations of abuse and neglect involving adults unable to seek support and assistance on their own due to restraint, physical handicap, illness, disease, injury or any other condition that affects their ability to make decisions.
Seniors Abuse and Information Line (SAIL) is a safe place for older adults, and those who care about them, to talk to someone about situations where they feel they are being abused or mistreated, or to receive information about elder abuse prevention. Get support and empowerment from Threshold outreach staff, who offer services that will support you if you have experienced threats, abuse and/or violence including sexual assault and historical sexual abuse. Services are offered in a safe, accepting and confidential environment in which you can explore your options and define your goals. Threshold staff recognize and respond to your cultural and lifestyle needs in addressing abuse.
Provides culturally sensitive support, counselling, advocacy, accompaniment and referrals to immigrant, refugee and visible minority women including seniors, children and families facing the challenges of domestic violence. Assistance for nearly 24 languages is available. They also provide workshops and various free educational programs on Stopping the Violence services; Community Based Victim Services and more.
